LEA WALLOSCHKE
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany
Lea Walloschke is an interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin, known for her diverse body of work. With a focus on abstract performance pieces, sound installations, photography, music, modern theatre and film, she has established herself as a versatile artist.
In 2022 her solo video work, Post Tiger King, received recognition at the Alicante Video Art Festival and was screened in MACA the Museum of Contemporary Art Alicante.
Amongst other films she was the production designer of Sun and Concrete which screened at the Berlinale Special Gala 2023 and was nominated for the LOLA, the most prestigious German film award. She was the leading art director of Barbarians, one of the most streamed series on Netflix in 2020 and created it’s notable look. The films she has worked on as composer, performer, writer or director of photography have garnered nominations at renowned international film festivals like Sundance, Berlinale, and Cannes.
She is known as author and performer since she co-founded the performance collective KOIKATE which was awarded the prestigious Capital Culture Fund Berlin in 2016.
Lea Walloschke’s educational background includes studying stage and costume design at the University of Arts Berlin, where she graduated with a Diploma in 2009.
Since 2001 she created concepts and stages for various opera, modern dance, performance, and theater productions. Notable institutions she worked with include Bayreuther Festspiele, Komische Oper Berlin, and the Berlin Philharmonics.
In 2014, she released the internationally acclaimed electro synth-pop album Theft Yuck Mess with her band, The Fan, showcasing her musical abilities to a global audience. Following a successful Eastern European tour, she pursued further artistic development by studying composition and vocals at the British & Irish Modern Music Institute.
Since than she created several sound installations, notably one for the THE HAUS, the world's largest street art exhibition, where her, KOIKATE’s ,installation #wemakeeuropegreatagain attracted over 80,000 visitors.
